Summer Vacation is over, and with it comes in homework, driving back and forth, and juggling schedules. It’s a little different from our more relaxed pace of summer, but I’m excited for it just the same.
I had a wonderful summer. I really enjoyed time with the kids, and made it a point really to NOT work on anything musical. Now with school starting, I’m finding musical thoughts coming in again. I’m excited to start composing again.
Last week, in Primary (our church’s children’s program) The music director started to teach the children how to write a song. She wrote out a staff, with a treble clef and time signature, and then had the kids come up and with 4 (quarter note) magnets, created a melody. I took the liberty of adding an accompaniment to go along with their new melody. It turned out really pretty! She encouraged all the kids to try and write their own Primary songs, and gave them each a paper with the staff lines on it.
I decided I would give it a try as well. I wrote a Primary song! It’s almost finished. I’ve also been changing my website around again. I still need to add a few things (like MP3 downloads!) but so far I really like it. I have a little more time now. I’m excited to see what projects I’ll begin (I don’t know yet!)
I very much enjoyed summer, but I’m just as excited to say… Summer’s over!
