Living Water (Women at the Well)
(sung by Rebecca Lopez)
View Lyrics

What would it have been like to actually talk to the Savior? Would we recognize who He was? I love this story because the women at the well seems so human. She didn't quite get it. It took her awhile before she understood what the Savior was offering her. What was this Living Water? Yes, she wanted to never thirst again, but how and where could He draw this water from?

I imagine the moment when she recognizes who He is and what it is that He is offering to her. I wrote this song to capture that moment, and to remind me that He continues to offer us this gift, if only we'll come.

Living Water

He was resting by the well when I brought my jar to fill
He asked for me to give Him drink
In surprise, I asked Him how a drink from me, He would allow
and His answer prompted me to think

If thou knewest who I was, You'd ask me to fill your cup
and you'd never thirst again but be filled up
You would never thirst again for you would have a well within
ever springing into everlasting life

But I wondered how he'd draw with the well so deep and all
for where could He draw the water from?
He said, There's no need to draw
It's a blessed gift from God
Come partake this living water, Come

If thou knewest who I was, You'd ask me to fill your cup
and you'd never thirst again but be filled up
You would never thirst again for you would have a well within
ever springing into everlasting life

Then I knew who He was
He was my Savior, the son of God
And this gift that He was offering to me

Meant I would never thirst again for I could have a well within
ever springing into everlasting life
I'll fill my well with living water, Lord, I'll come!
